This guide explains how to connect your Microsoft 365 / Exchange Online mailbox to Carerix using OAuth2 authentication.
After connecting:
Emails from your Office 365 mailbox can be retrieved in Carerix
Carerix can synchronize folders such as Inbox, Archive, and Deleted Items
Authentication is handled securely via your Microsoft account.
Before you start
Make sure the following requirements are met:
Your organization uses Microsoft 365 / Exchange Online
Your mailbox is active and accessible
Your administrator allows third-party OAuth connections
You can log in to your Microsoft account in a browser
If the connection fails, contact your Microsoft 365 administrator.
Establish the synchronization
Step 1 — Open your account settings
Click your profile name in the top-right corner of Carerix.
Select My Account.
Step 2 — Select Office 365 from the Email settings
Scroll to the Email settings section.
From the Mail service provider dropdown, select Office 365.
Step 3 — Start synchronization
Click Start Mail Synchronization.
Step 5 — Authenticate with Microsoft
A Microsoft login page opens:
Choose your account
Sign in to your Microsoft Office365 account
Grant permissions to the Carerix app
After logging in to your Microsoft account All required email settings will automatically and correctly be registered in Carerix. All email settings fields have become read only and you email synchronization is almost ready to go.
Step 6 — Map your folders
To finish the setup of your mail synchronization between Office365 and Carerix you need to map the respective folders in Carerix and Office365. This way you make sure that mail from your inbox in Office365 will end up in the inbox in Carerix as well as archived or deleted mail f.e.
Click Edit folders and map the following folders:
Stopping synchronization
To stop synchronization:
Go to My Account → Email settings
Click Stop Mail synchronization
This removes:
OAuth authentication
Email settings
Folder mappings
Troubleshooting
Wrong Microsoft account selected
If the wrong mailbox is connected:
Click Stop Mail synchronization
Open a private/incognito browser window
Log in to Carerix
Repeat the setup steps
Why
Your browser may automatically log in to the previously used Microsoft account.
The “Start Mail synchronization” button is missing
Contact your Carerix administrator or helpdesk to enable IMAP OAuth2 for your environment.
Office 365 is not available in the dropdown
IfYour administrator must enable Microsoft as an OAuth provider in system settings.
Error when clicking “Edit folders”
If you get one of the following error messages it means that something is not right in your email settings:
Try:
Refresh the page
Repeat the login process
Reconnect the mailbox
If the issue continues, contact support.
