Ways to create a Candidate-file

Updated over 2 months ago

Creating a new candidate file

To create a new Candidate-file choose one of the following options;

  • Provide CV file and create candidate immediately (quick option)

  • Analyse CV file with the CV extraction service (extended option)

  • Fill in the field yourself

Provide CV document and immediately create candidate (quick option)

  • Go to 'Menu' | 'Candidates'

  • Click [New]

  • Choose 'Provide CV document and immediately create candidate (quick option)'

  • You can now upload a CV document from your hard disk

  • Click [Next] and follow the instructions

Remarks

  • There is no option to edit the file before it is saved into the database. The reason for this is to save time and create quick results. There is always the possibility for editing after the candidate has been created.

  • At the bottom of this article you find which information is imported from the CV into the candidate file.

  • When the candidate name is set in the system as a set of asterisks (*****), then the quick extraction has been unable to recognize a candidate name. In this case please send the CV to the helpdesk so we can improve on our quick extraction system. Change the name of the candidate in your newly created file manually.

Analyse CV document (advanced option)

Through this form of file creation a CV is fully analysed. Parsing tries to recognize as many terms as possible to create the candidate file upon. This is how you analyse a CV:

  • Go to: Files > Candidates

  • Click [New]

  • Select Analyse CV document using the CV extraction service (advanced option)

  • Browse to the CV-document on your harddisk

  • Click [Finish], the CV extraction starts in a new window
    In the new window you see a graphic preview of the candidate CV on the left, and on the right you see the results of the extraction, divided over the fields of the Carerix candidate file

  • Check the results and change information where applicable

  • Click 'Save' (the right arrow icon at the top of the window) to save the candidate file. The extraction window closes and you are directed to the newly created candidate file.

Paste LinkedIn profile page or other internet page with profile

Choose the option "Paste LinkedIn profile page or other internet page with profile". Paste a copy of the profile page in the text field after which the profile will be created into a candidate file. This works for profile websites like Linkedin, Monster, Nationale Vacaturebank, etc.

  • Go to 'Menu' | 'Candidates'

  • Click [New]

  • Choose "Paste LinkedIn profile page or other internet page with profile", a text field appears

  • Paste a copy of the profile in the text field

  • Click [Next]

Note

  • There is no option to edit the file before it is saved into the database. The reason for this is to save time and create quick results. There is always the possibility for editing after the candidate has been created.

  • At the bottom of this article you find which information is imported from the CV into the candidate file.

  • The completeness of the filled in fields depends on the completeness of the (Linkedin) profile that you are trying to import: if there are more fields filled in, the candidate file has more information filled in as well;

  • Copy and paste only with Microsoft Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox. Other browsers are not supported by Carerix.

Enter fields manually

  • Go to: 'Menu' | 'Candidates'

  • Click [New]

  • Choose 'Enter the fields manually'

  • Click [Next] and follow the instructions

From an e-mail attachment

  • Open the e-mail

  • Go to the Attachments-tab

  • Click the [extraction icon] on the left hand side of your screen

  • Check if the candidate that you are trying to create already exists

  • Click [Next], then [Finish]

  • Check extraction

  • [Save]

  • The system automatically sends you to the newly created Candidate-file.

Which fields are automatically filled in by the quick extraction from LinkedIn?

When a candidate file is made via the quick extraction method or via a pasted LinkedIn profile, the following information is taken from the file:

(if these are public or if you are a first or second circle connection from the candidate, or when you have a Linkedin Premium account:

  • Last name;

  • First name;

  • Job title;

  • Date of birth;

  • E-mail address;

  • Picture;

  • Phone number/mobile;

  • In the Education tab, the 'Other Educations' field is filled in;

  • In the Experience tab, the 'Other Experience' field is filled in;

  • In the Skills tab the 'Notes' field is filled in;

  • Source (provided that you have added 'LinkedIn' as a table in 'Source candidate')

  • Profile as CV-attachments;

General notes

  • Carerix takes note of existing files and tries to prevent double candidate files from occurring.

  • The result of importing a CV or profile that you have found online will never be 100% correct. Sometimes it might not work sufficiently, especially when the structure of the profile or CV document deviates a lot from the general standard. Please send such a profile or CV document to the helpdesk and our development team will use it to improve the feature.
