Calendar syncronisation with Microsoft - admin approval

In this article, we explain how you, as a Microsft administrator, configure the correct settings in the Microsoft admin portal (Entra ID / Azure portal). This is necessary when users receive a message stating that administrator consent is required when linking their calendar.

By following the steps below, you enable users to request this consent directly, after which the administrator can approve the connection.

Procedure: Enabling Consent Requests (by the Microsoft Administrator)

Before users can submit a request, the Admin Consent option must be activated.

  • Log in to the Microsoft Entra admin center (formerly Azure Portal).

  • Search for the setting User consent settings or Admin consent settings.

  • Locate the setting: Users can request admin consent to apps they are unable to consent to.

  • Set this setting to Yes.

  • Click Save to store the changes.

Note: In some Microsoft interfaces, this setting has been moved to a specific submenu for consent policies. If you do not see the option immediately, click through to Admin consent requests.

Procedure: Requesting Consent (by the Carerix User)

Once the above setting is activated, the user can take the following steps within Carerix:

  • Navigate to the email or calendar settings via My profile in Carerix.

  • Restart the calendar linking process.

  • When the Microsoft notification appears stating the app is not authorized, a field will now appear to provide a justification.

  • Click the Request permission button.

Procedure: Approving the Request (By the Microsoft Administrator)

As an administrator, you must now definitively approve the incoming request for the entire organization.

  • In the Microsoft portal, go back to Enterprise applications.

  • In the menu, click on Admin consent requests.

  • In the list of requests, you will see the application Carerix Calendar - Production.

  • Click on the request and choose Review permissions and consent.

  • After you have approved the request, the application is authorized for all users within your environment.

Completion

Once the status is set to Approved, all employees can successfully link their calendars without further intervention from the administrator.
