See the instruction video on how to install the Carerix SocialBrowser. Skip through the chapters to see how to Add a Candidate, Add a note, View a profile directly in Carerix and Add a Contact:

  • Open reports in your Carerix application
    Select "Carerix Linkedinbrowser" in the drop-down menu (you do not have to specify a period).
    If "Carerix Linkedin/Xing browser" isn't available as a report, please ask your Carerix Administrator to install the ‘Carerix Linkedin/Xing browser’ template.
    The template is available from the Carerix document 'Template Library' (under the 'Reporting' heading).

  • Follow the steps as described in the report.

  • Go to https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/carerix-linkedin/ankeagkpfmleppnkhmifkfdcmkcnagjk and download the extension.

  • Click the 'Add to Chrome' button.
    This will launch an installation wizard for the plugin.

  • A pop-up screen will appear containing information on the access rights you are assigning to the extension. Click 'Add' button.

  • The download process will start automatically. Once it has finished, the extension will have been installed automatically;

  • Return to the "Socialbrowser" report and select Setup.

  • Generate the token.

  • Visit a LinkedIn profile and click the Carerix logo in the address bar.

  • A setup form will appear on screen.
    Enter the name of your application under App name. Enter the token you received in the second field.

  • Click the 'Setup' button. The fields that you have just filled out, have automatically erased themselves, and your extension has now been created. It may seem like nothing has happened, but the activation has been completed. Visit a LinkedIn or Xing profile (or press F5 to refresh the details of the person you last viewed) to start using the SocialBrowser.

  • Make sure you disable the pop-up killer in Chrome if no pop-up screen appears when you click the Carerix icon.

Note

Before adding a Candidate or Contact please make sure you close/minimize your LinkedIn chats. When chats are opened during candidate or contact creation on LinkedIn via the Carerix Chrome plugin the chats might end up in Carerix.

Updating the plugin

You will see the three dots turn orange at the top right corner of your Chrome browser.
If you click this section, you will see towards the bottom of the screen that the update is asking for validation. Upon validation, you can refresh the LinkedIn/Xing page and start using the latest version.

Deactivating/removing the plugin

You can easily deactivate or remove the plugin from your Chrome browser:

  • Right-click the Carerix icon in the top right corner of the screen.

  • Select 'Remove from Chrome' to remove the plugin.

  • If you prefer to deactivate the plugin temporarily, you can do so via 'Manage extensions'.

What does the SocialBrowser (LinkedIn/Xingbrowser) do?

The SocialBrowser is an extension available for Google Chrome and Chromium. It can be easily installed in your browser.

If you use Google Chrome or Chromium to visit LinkedIn and Xing and view a profile, you will immediately see whether a 'Candidate/Contact' are already present in Carerix.

If not, you can add the person to your Carerix database with a single click of a button.

When the 'Candidate/Contact' is already known in the system, you will immediately see their contact details, possible matches and an overview of activities. If you provide secondment services, you will also get to see placement details.

Approach

The following Carerix details of the candidate/contact will be displayed alongside the LinkedIn/Xing profile:

  • Name, position, town (number of Placements)

  • Contact details, mobile number and email address

  • Matches

  • Placements, final date and upcoming availability

  • Last contact, update, creation date and Candidate owner

  • The consent status and its expiration date

Benefits of the SocialBrowser

  • You can see at a glance whether a Candidate/Contact in LinkedIn/Xing is already present in Carerix and immediately add the person to the system if this is not the case.

  • It is also possible to see at a glance whether a Candidate from LinkedIn/Xing has already been matched to a Job Order.

  • You can directly add notes to Candidates/Contacts while viewing their details in LinkedIn/Xing.

  • It is possible to compare the information in your database to the details on LinkedIn/Xing and update them with a single click.

  • You no longer have to change screens between Carerix and LinkedIn/Xing.

Please note:

  • Before adding a Candidate or Contact please make sure you close/minimize your LinkedIn chats. When chats are opened during candidate or contact creation on LinkedIn via the Carerix Chrome plugin the chats might end up in Carerix.

  • The plugin is designed for the use of a free LinkedIn account. This is why we only give support on problems with free LinkedIn accounts. In some cases the plugin also works with paid LinkedIn accounts. This is why it seems that the plugin should also work for paid accounts, however this is a mere coincidence. Sadly we cannot give support when the plugin no longer works for these paid accounts.
